Once you leave the A38 and start the final leg of your journey towards Little Bank Barn, you'll notice the lanes getting narrower and the banks getting higher. You really start to get a feel for the rolling South Devon countryside and start to unwind. Little Bank Barn is tucked away in a gorgeous, peaceful spot, just a short hop from some beautiful beaches, the South West Coast Path and the wide open spaces of Dartmoor National Park.
More and more of our guests are arriving in electric cars, which we think is brilliant. So if you're planning a holiday in South Devon with an electric car, you'll be pleased to know there are plenty of places to charge your car, including right here at Little Bank Barn.
A Holiday Cottage in South Devon with Its Own EV Charger
First, the good news: you don't need to go anywhere to charge up. We've got a 7kW EV charger right here which you can use during your stay for a small additional charge per hour.
Get back from a day on the beach, plug the car in, put your feet up, and by morning you'll be topped up and ready to go again. No queuing, no hunting about for a free bay, no faffing with apps when you'd rather be on holiday.
Where to Find EV Charging Points in South Devon
Half the fun of a holiday down here is getting out and exploring everything South Devon has to offer, and there are some great spots nearby where you can top up while you're at it:
EV Charging in Kingsbridge: Quay Car Park
Kingsbridge is our nearest market town and a lovely place to while away a few hours. Quay Car Park, has two 22kW chargers. Plug in, then stroll up Fore Street for independent shops, galleries, delis and cafés, or grab fish and chips and sit by the water watching the boats.
Good to know: normal parking charges still apply on top of the cost of charging, so do grab a ticket.
EV Charging in Salcombe: Creek Car Park
Salcombe is such a pretty town sitting right on the estuary, it's well worth a day out. Creek Car Park has 22kW chargers, so plug in and off you go (normal parking charges do apply). Have a wander round the lovely shops, treat yourself to an ice cream from Salcombe Dairy, or settle in somewhere nice for lunch (Rockfish is always a good bet). The kids will love a spot of crabbing off the quay or you can stroll through town to the beaches at North Sands and South Sands. You could even get the passenger ferry over to Mill Bay and do one of our favourite loop walks with stunning views and lunch at Village farm Cafe.
Rapid EV Charging Near the A38: Owens Coffee at Endsleigh
This one's a favourite of our guests, and if you're coming down (or heading home) on the A38 near Ivybridge, it's the perfect pit stop.
Owens Coffee is an award-winning South Devon organic coffee roaster, with its roastery and coffee shop at Endsleigh. Pop in for a delicious coffee and a slice of cake while your car charges on the 300kW Osprey ultra-rapid chargers there. They're seriously quick so you can add a good chunk of range in the time it takes to finish your cake.
A little taste of home
Owens is the very same coffee we provide in the pods at Little Bank Barn (Gara blend). We hope you enjoy it and if you do you can always stop in on your way home to pick some up.
